Guillermo Diaz Jr., senior vice president and chief information officer for Cisco Systems, Inc., will deliver the keynote address at the Duke University & Health System’s internal IT conference, TechExpo 2016, on April 15, 2016, at the Washington Duke Inn & Conference Center.
The Network, Cisco’s technology news site, says that Diaz “is responsible for Cisco’s global Information Technology organization and services.” His focus is on “transforming the overall IT experience by strengthening foundational business capabilities; enabling new business models such as service, software, and SaaS; and accelerating innovative business outcomes for Cisco customers, partners, and employees.” In addition, Diaz leads Cisco’s Diversity Council and he is the executive sponsor of the company’s network for Hispanic and Latino employees.
The Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) named Diaz winner of its “Estrella of the Year” award in 2015 for his leadership in the information technology field. He was also recognized as one of the 100 CIO/CTO Leaders in STEM in 2015, as 2014 Best CIO Community Champion by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, and as one of HITEC’s Top Hispanics in IT from 2009-2014.
