Connected On Campus

Most laptops and many mobile devices have 802.11a/b/g/n ("WiFi") equipment built in. If you're not sure whether or not yours has such a device, refer to your equipment manufacturer.

If you have a Duke NetID, connect to the “Dukeblue” network:

  1. Open your network preferences and look for a network called "DukeBlue;" make sure encryption is disabled.
  2. Once connected to the “Dukeblue” network, open a Web browser and visit https://dukereg.duke.edu. Follow the instructions to use your NetID and password to register your computer for wireless network access.
  3. After completing the registration, wait approximately 2 minutes, then complete a repair or release/renew procedure on your computer. Alternatively, you can simply reboot your machine. Once the repair or reboot is complete, you should have full Internet access through the wireless network.

If you don't have a Duke NetID, connect to Duke's visitor network:

  1. Open your network preferences and look for a network called "DukeOpen," which should be available to you across campus. Select this network.
  2. Open a browser. You should see the "welcome" message pertaining to the visitor network.
  3. Click Continue to connect to your normal start page.
  4. Note that the network cuts you off automatically after an hour of inactivity.
