Metabody is a European project that attempts to redefine the body in Media in less simplistic ways than is usual in current information technologies, thus counteracting technology s increasing tendency to dampen differences by reducing bodies and movements to prescribed forms in current surveillance culture. Our proposal is a reversal of cybernetics that highlights the indeterminacy of embodied expressions as a key factor for a sustainable society. This foregrounds the need for a new ethics, which we may call metamedia and biomedia ethics.
This hands on session will include: basic instructions and tips on using the iPhones native camera, a discussion of some of Michael s favorite apps for taking and editing photos, including Camera+ and Snapseed and a short photo walk to capture some images for editing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own device to the session and to consider downloading the Camera+ and Snapseed apps beforehand. There have been several new features added to Sakai this year. Come learn about enabling peer review in the assignment tool, the new media center (Warpwire), and improvements to the Lessons tool. We will showcase some sites using Sakai in innovative ways.

The next generation DukeStream publishing platform is here, and it's called Warpwire. This easy-to-use web based service allows you to upload a video or image from your computer or smart phone (up to 10GB per item) and then share that item - or the whole collection it belongs to - with just about any combination of NetID-based users and groups using simple links and/or embed code. Warpwire now includes a plugin for Sakai that makes publishing media there even more simple, and there are plans to create one for Wordpress as well.
