A listserv is an electronic mailing list that offers an efficient way to disseminate information to large numbers of people using a single e-mail address.
OIT uses the mailing list management software Sympa.
Sympa provides a user friendly interface for subscribing to and from lists. It also manages existing subscription preferences and allows viewing list archives. Duke University faculty, staff, and students can subscribe to appropriate lists and/or apply online to request creation of list as long as the list complies with the University's group e-mail policy. This e-mail policy applies to all group e-mails sent through the central mail system, including the Exchange service.
